Statement Of Faith

MISSION STATEMENT

CityWest Church was planted for the purpose of claiming revival in Jesus name. Our passion is to worship Jesus in Spirit and Truth, as Jesus is everything to us. Prayer and thanksgiving is our first priority as is preaching doctrinally accurate sermons with the cross of Christ as the centre of our messages. At CityWest Church we disciple, teach and encourage our congregation to worship, walk in holiness, turn from sin and believe God for answers to prayer. Pastorally, we endeavor to grow, nurture and support Christians so as to fulfill their God given purpose on this earth. We submit to the Lord in all things as our Senior Pastor, with the Holy Spirit as our Senior Partner.

VISION

We see a church of sound, committed, powerful Christian men and women who are devoted to holiness, prayer and intercession and who worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth. Church size is not our emphasis, but rather raising up genuine Christians who will go to Heaven. We see a congregation of active laborers for Christ, who put all on the line to be found pure before Him.

PHILOSOPHY

This is our personal belief of how our church will function both in public and private and how it will be governed.

-We are to walk in holiness and encourage others to walk in holiness, for only the holy will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).

-To live a life of prayer and encourage others to do the same.

-To die daily from a life of sin and encourage others to do the same.

-To be diligent in all that we do, with a spirit of excellence.

-To be an example of Christianity to believers and non-believers.

-To seek the Lord before every decision and to perfect the art of waiting for and trusting in Him.

-To be relevant and approachable to this generation and to pray for unity among the body of Christ.

-We commit to raising up leaders in the body of Christ and helping them discover who they are in Jesus.

THE CONCERNS OF CITYWEST CHURCH

To see our congregation come into the fullness of who they were created to be in Christ and to see them fulfill the commission and make disciples of Nations. We are concerned that correct doctrine is taught in church and we will not neglect controversial and avoided topics! Our concern is to see Christians praying and interceding for the lost, as well as telling them about Jesus.

PURPOSE

Our purpose is to see the Body of Believers functioning in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit. To secure true revival from Heaven with the manifest presence of God in our services. To train up the Saints in prayer, intercession, in witnessing, preaching, teaching and discipling others, as well as in theology. Our purpose is to offer a safe place to Shepherd and encourage God’s people.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

WE BELIEVE that there is one living and true GOD, eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.

WE BELIEVE that the SCRIPTURES of the Old and New Testaments are the Work of God, fully inspired without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice.

WE BELIEVE in GOD THE FATHER, an Infinite, personal, Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He Saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE in JESUS CHRIST, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, Ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth.

WE BELIEVE in the HOLY SPIRIT, Who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ; we believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the gifts of the Spirit.

WE BELIEVE that all PEOPLE are sinners by nature and choice and, therefore, are under condemnation; that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit, those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord; that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit and power for service.

WE BELIEVE in the universal CHURCH, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.

WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ORDINANCES to the Church: 1) baptism, and 2) the Lord’s Supper. We believe in baptism by immersion and communion open to all believers.

WE BELIEVE also in the LAYING ON OF HANDS, for ordination of pastors, elders, and deacons. We believe also in anointing the sick with oil.

WE BELIEVE in the personal, visible RETURN OF CHRIST to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom, in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment and eternal blessing of the righteous and endless suffering of the wicked.

WE BELIEVE in what is termed the Apostles Creed as embodying fundamental facts of Christian faith.
