Foot To Fit

Many moons ago someone by the name of Noah was told by God to build an Ark of huge proportions to preserve life on earth. His instructions were to “make room” for animals of all kinds and a number of people. His calling did not make sense at the time. It never rained before. The animals were nowhere to be seen. How was he going to bring them in and get them to spend 40 days out of their natural habitat in a gigantic floating zoo?
“Build it and they will come,” was all Noah needed to get his hands on the tools.
Today, God has called the Church to build a “spiritual ark” to preserve life for eternity. That calling makes no sense to many but the Church needs to make room for those who will respond. Making room is challenging at best, unsettling at worst but necessary nonetheless if we are to fulfil our mission.
Being happy and content with were we are will never take us to our destiny, we need to make room for what God has for us and be ready to enlarge our hearts and vision to take with us as many as we can across the difficult times ahead.
The calling for the Church today is to think beyond our possibilities and resources. We need to be ready to make room for what’s ahead of us. The God we serve is able and willing to supply far beyond our needs. In other words, God wants us to fit into the shoes he has for us rather than adjusting His purpose to the size of our feet!
